Golf or CHOT?

CHOT is a new sport that can be played simultaneously with golf.  A golfer and a CHOT player can play the on the same hole/net without interfering with one another.  Players use slings (a-la David and Goliath) to hurl CHOT balls.  CHOT balls are balls which look like golf balls but are shaped like footballs.  The CHOT balls are unique in that, unlike traditional golf balls, they don't hook or slice.  When hurled CHOT balls spiral through the air like a football and can reach distances of well over 200 yards!  After each sling the CHOT ball is replaced on the turf by a marker which the player must stay behind when slinging.  Once at the green the CHOT player can "call" the net.  The net replaces golf flag poles.  The CHOT net is vertical and looks like a wind sock with a golf flag on top.

There are many techniques to slinging.  Probably the most popular technique people associate slinging with is spinning the sling over ones head like a helicopter.  It has been my experience that this is perhaps the most powerful way to sling and the most dangerous.  While spinning this way the ball can be loosed in any direction.  In the rules of CHOT the only technique permitted is the figure eight.  This technique eliminates most dangers to slinging on a golf course.

Keeping score is much like golf however when slinging into the net CHOT players are permitted only one try.  If the CHOT player makes the net the last sling or "stroke" isn't counted however if they miss 2 points are added.

Slinging has been around for centuries.  The oldest sling in existence today was found in the tomb of King Tut.  He wanted to use this sling for hunting birds in the afterlife.  The Benjamite army mentioned in the old testament of the Bible describes soldiers that could hit a target at a hair's breadth.  Balearic soldiers were deadly accurate with a sling and used ammo which resembles our CHOT ball.  Perhaps the most famous story of the sling is the story of David and Goliath.  As you can see the accuracy of slinging is real and as for power, I have personally hurled a CHOT ball over 240 yards!

For those who get frustrated with golf they can now try CHOT.  CHOT is much easier to learn yet in many ways more of a challenge.  As one ex-golfer stated "this sport is for the fun right side of the brain while golf is for the left analytical side."  I agree CHOT is definitely fun!

This sport began in Arizona.  While there have been many people slinging on golf courses for years, this sport is regulated and certified by the US Professional CHOT Association.  CHOT has its own set of rules and unlike simply slinging on a golf course, uses slings all the way throughout the game.

This sport is just beginning and offers a unique opportunity for the sports opportunists (an athlete who wants success in a sport) an excellent chance of success.  Because of the newness of CHOT there is very little competition!
